DUBAI STREET MUSEUM

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

The ongoing Dubai Street Museum project led by Rom Levy was initiated in 2016 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and has the ambition to turn the city into the largest open air museum in the world.

A number of walls are curated every year throughout the city, involving and binding together international and local artists, students and audiences. The walls are conceived as relevant propositions that make sense in each area, offering a dialogue to the people regardless of their social background.

This open art form, reinforced and in some ways unusual, refreshing or new in this region, also creates new locations, landmarks that leave an imprint on people’s minds. It allows for memories, links to be sewed between locations and people. It makes the city alive, and has become an essential part of Dubai’s renewed image.

Dubai Street Museum also works towards supporting the local artists, and is proud to be the first urban art project in the Middle East.
